these matters that with myself I too much discuss, too much explain book installation and performance by Alessio delli Castelli // Opening: Friday, October 21, 2011, 8pm // Performance starts at 8pm // Opening hours: Saturday and Sunday, October 22 and 23, 2011, 3-6pm At General Public, Alessio delli Castelli presents two new works entitled Marry! Marry! and Small Talk. Marry! Marry! is a non-explanatory history of ideas in which an archive is used according to its inner formal affinities. It takes the shape of a novel composed of extracts of various books, films and song lyrics pertaining different times and geographical locations. Marry! Marry!’s installation offers the possibility to sit and read the result of the research and simultaneously displays part of its making process. Three songs in Italian, English and German play in the background. They connect a pop song to a classical text or a classical piece of music to a pop-lyric. Alessio delli Castelli will also perform the introductory chapter to Small Talk, discussing literary, music and sculptural works the mechanisms of which become or merge with their subject matter thus underlining an opposition between critical/philosophical and artistic methodology. Alessio delli Castelli was born in York, England, in 1979. He lives and works in Berlin. He studied at the Art Lyceum of Milan. He obtained a complementary Piano diploma at the Conservatoire G. Verdi in Milan. His shows include A Night of Artists’ Music, HAU2, Berlin (2011); the Ariane de Rothschild Prize, Palazzo Reale, Milan (2011); Sie Leben, AC Galerie, Berlin (2010); A Personal Shout, White Columns, New York (2009).
