// Date: Thursday, 14 october 2010 // Time: 21:00 // Duration: 45 min // free entrance
Memories was created in 2008/ 2009 and is the result of the manipulation of five digital synthesizers in real-time in the form of a blurred, virtual and emotional progression. It's a journey to an atmosphere of shadows, to an imaginary swamp. The visual component comes from Pedro Maia's Super 8 Series "Memory" and reveals the awareness of an entity beyond narrative that leads to a certain degree of tension between representation and conceptual attraction. A kind of hypnosis that results from the defiance of repetition and rhythm through the direct manipulation of the frame created by the expectations of visual residues. Originally from Porto and currently living in Berlin, they started their collaboration three years ago. Labrador (sound) and p.ma (visuals) are two artists whose performances give the audience a very particular and almost hypnotic insight experience.
BIOS Under the alias of Labrador, Luis Dourado has been working as a producer since 2005. Although is mainly focused on techno aesthetics, this autodidact musician has also been creating several parallel projects for pontual presentations in specific places like galleries, museums or festivals. In these laptop-based sound works, the author seeks for isolation and self de-construction. "Labrador" as been presenting himself in live-acts at venues like Sónar Festival, Serralves Contemporary Art Museum together with p.ma . www.myspace.com/eulabrador
Pedro Maia, with his project p.ma, has been developing live cinema concept since 2004, manipulating images in real time and interacting with sound. p.ma already collaborated with several musicians such as Panda Bear (Animal Collective), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Thomas Brinkmann, Phoebus, Coclea, Evols, Labrador, among others, and performed in venues like Sónar Festival, Serralves Contemporary Art Museum, Contemporary Cultural Center of Valencia, Film and Music Festivals. www.pma.pt.to
