oscillation series - sonic theories and practices #12 - Gilbert Simondon and Sonic Theory |
// Talk, Presentation & Sound // Date: 7th August 2011 (Su), 20h
The 12th session will be dedicated to Gilbert Simondon and Sonic Theory
with Patrick Harrop
This paper will elaborate a sonic theory based on Gilbert Simondon’s philosophy of technology, which uses strong sonic and vibrational metaphors for describing technical objects via transductive processes. Gilbert Simondon is a still much unknown key figure of french theory, who strongly influenced thinkers such as Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Bernard Stiegler, Eric Alliez and others. The session will first present some theoretical concepts and then will show some concrete artworks related to the theory.
Patrick Harrop is Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at University of Manitoba in Winnepeg, Canada.
