elektropopklub was a legendary artistic platform realised in the summer of 2005 in the empty space at the first floor of the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom, Poland. The project was developed by two institutions: Kronika and Kunstverein Wolfsburg. A group of experts: djs, journalists, designers, fashion designers and art curators exercised absolute control over Bytom night life. The confrontation of the subversive, spontaneous electropunk club with the established town museum could become an uplifting projection of an unfulfilled utopia of an alternative city which managed to escape the trap of apathy and dejection. Cities such as Bytom, situated in the middle of an industrial backwater, which failed to overcome the challenges of late capitalism may become an interesting testing ground for new art institutions. After five weeks of enjoying immense though unexpected popularity, the club was closed - only to be 'reincarnated' in a more museum-like form in Wolfsburg.
The project is realised in the frameworks of "Alphabet" (letter E) by Kronika www.kronika.org.pl
